The shelf map: nine things, sorted by where they live

A Sunday money page sorted by place, not by step or price: what sits by the sink, in the fridge door, on the nightstand, in the bag and by the plug. Eight under-$25 workhorses and one dryer. Not a priced basket or a ranking.

The shelf map: nine things, sorted by where they live

This week's desks went one bottle at a time: a spicule serum, a cool toner pad, a mugwort essence and a ceramide cream. Last Sunday was a priced basket. Today is a map instead. A product gets used when it lives where you need it, so this page sorts nine things by the spot they belong in. Eight cost under $25 at catalog prices; one is a hair dryer. Associates tags stay off.

By the sink, for the morning

Two bottles, both quick. The Klairs Supple Preparation toner is a slightly thick hydrating toner you press in with your palms right after cleansing. The Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun is a light SPF 50+ cream that goes on last. Keep them side by side so the sunscreen never gets skipped on a rushed morning.

In the fridge door, for hot evenings

The SKINFOOD Carrot Carotene water pads joined the catalog this week. They work at room temperature, but a cool tub feels better after a day outside. Wipe one over the face, press it on warm spots for a couple of minutes, then carry on with your routine. Close the lid tightly so the pads stay wet.

On the nightstand, for the last five minutes

The Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream is a light cream for evenings when skin feels thin and tight. The COSRX Retinol 0.1 Cream is a low-dose retinol for first-timers: a pea-sized amount after moisturizer, two or three nights a week to start, and sunscreen the next morning. Do not start it in the same week as another new active. The Laneige Lip Glowy Balm sits here too, because lips dry out overnight in air-conditioned rooms.

In the bag, for the afternoon

The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 70 is the reapply bottle for the car, the school run and the neck you forgot. The Peripera Ink Mood Glowy Tint is one swipe for a sheer stain, two in the center for more colour, and it does not need a mirror.

By the plug, the one bigger buy

The Laifen Swift is a high-speed brushless dryer and the only item here over $25. Rough-dry on medium, finish with the nozzle on high, and keep it about a hand-span from your hair. It earns its spot if you dry your hair most days. If you air-dry, skip it and the rest of the map still works.

Put it where your hand already goes.

Shop links are editorial product pages: each button goes to an amazon.com/dp page with no tag, and where there is no verified Amazon.ae listing, UAE shoppers fall back to the untagged US page. Prices move, so check the page before you buy. Patch test anything new, and bring in one new product at a time.
